Haidian Business Trip Adventure
This time, when I came to Haidian, Beijing to connect with the industry university research project, I specifically recommended a chain business hotel in the city and set my destination at the well-known Xijiao Hotel Beijing. Originally, I only wanted it to be close to the university campus and have conference facilities. However, after staying for three days, I ended up living in a relaxed experience of "hiding in the forest and working efficiently".
It took only ten minutes to drive from Zhongguancun Software Park, and as soon as the car turned into the hotel gate, the noisy traffic was instantly blocked by towering water spruce forests on both sides. In the nearly thousand acre park, there are hidden lake views, trails, and ancient trees, which are completely different from being next to the North Fourth Ring Road where every inch of land is precious. Even breathing is wrapped in the clear fragrance of pine needles and lotus leaves. The benefits of self driving are even more direct. Free parking spaces can be seen everywhere in the park, so there is no need to go around three times to find a parking space like in the city, and the rush feeling of just getting off the highway is greatly reduced.
When checking in, the front desk specifically reminded me that there is a 24-hour free shuttle bus available in the park, and there is no need to walk to any meeting room or restaurant. The room I live in faces a small lake, and the 1.4-meter-wide desk by the window has soft lighting. The multi port socket just supplies power to the computer, projector, and conference recording pen at the same time. The WiFi is stable throughout the entire process, and there is no lag in transmitting several gigabytes of project experimental data. Busy until late at night, looking out the window at the tree shadows on the lake, without even the common light pollution in the city, the nerves that had been tense all day suddenly relaxed.
Our project review meeting was directly held in the international conference area of the hotel, with a main venue of over 900 square meters equipped with professional simultaneous interpretation equipment. The service team debugged the project materials, tea, and demonstration equipment one hour in advance, and urgent printed copies requested midway were delivered to the table within 5 minutes. After the meeting, I took a walk and chatted with experts from the university by the garden tea house. There was no need to rush to the subway, as I walked along the tree lined path for half an hour. This time I came to Beijing to attend an academic seminar, and the conference team arranged accommodation at Xijiao Hotel Beijing. After waiting for the car to turn from the noisy Fourth Ring Road into the hotel gate and drive along the tree lined avenue lined with towering ginkgo trees for ten minutes, I realized that in the valuable Haidian District, there is actually a city secret that covers nearly a thousand acres.
The process of checking in was particularly smooth. The front desk staff handed over the room card and specifically reminded me that there is a free shuttle bus in the park. If you want to go to any area, you can call for a taxi. I live in the standard room of Building 8, and when I push the door, I am struck by the greenery: the french window are facing a small lake full of lotus flowers, and the wind blows from the lake, with the clear fragrance of lotus leaves and pine trees, without any sense of dryness and heat in the urban area. The layout of the room is in a steady and atmospheric Chinese style, without fancy internet celebrity decorations. The width of the desk is just enough to spread out thick professional literature, and the brightness of the desk lamp is adjusted just right. Even if you stay up late at night to revise conference papers, you won't feel sore in your eyes.
What surprised me the most was the environment in the park. I didn't finish exploring all the corners for three whole days. At six o'clock in the morning, I took a walk along the trail. The water fir trees by the roadside covered the sky and the sun. Occasionally, I could see small squirrels darting past the tree trunks. The weeping willows by the lake hung down to the surface of the water, and even the negative oxygen ions in the air seemed to be soaked in coolness and were rising out. The main venue of the conference group is located in the Grand Banquet Hall, which can be reached in five minutes by shuttle bus from my room. The lighting and sound system of the venue are professionally adjusted, and even the printing materials needed in the middle are delivered to the table by the staff within three minutes. The experience of the entire academic conference is particularly smooth.
The three meals are all set up in the hotel's own restaurant, and the variety of breakfast is more than expected. The fermented sour milk made from ground mung bean wow gold and Jiaoquan are authentic old Beijing flavor, and Chinese and western hot dishes, cakes and fresh cut fruits are full. In the evening, I made plans with my colleagues to go to a tea house in the garden, soak a pot of jasmine tea in the evening breeze, and chat about academic topics until late at night, even slowing down the time.
On the day of check-out, I woke up early and walked around the park again, passing by a small garden full of peonies and several standalone buildings hidden in the woods. As a well-established hotel that has hosted many important foreign affairs events, the most touching aspect of Xijiao Hotel Beijing is never its "high-end" title, but its use of nearly a thousand acres of forest gardens in the bustling Haidian district, leaving a quiet corner for all guests to calm down.
